There are different paths to happiness and happiness can vary from person to person. While wealth and health mean happiness to many people, others are satisfied with less.

Many people refer to contentment as perfect happiness, while others refer to a good relationship with God as their happiness. For almost all people, happiness depends primarily on health and peace.

Promoting peace can mean happiness

Interpersonal relationships are important in order to feel happy. For peace to be possible among people, kindness and understanding are needed.

Good neighborly relations also contribute to peaceful coexistence and some people even feel a certain euphoria when the relationship with their neighbors is in order.

Put aside self-love and bossiness

Self-love hardly contributes to feeling true happiness. You are far too busy with yourself and happiness has become a foreign word, so to speak. Such people only feel happiness when they are doing well themselves. But true happiness and good mood usually looks different.

Having to be right all the time is not good for peaceful coexistence and breeds enmity rather than friendship.

If you don't always insist on your rights and prefer to give in, you will find friends faster or keep existing friendships. And good friends and friendships are an indispensable part of being happy.

Giving is happier than receiving

Jesus said that it is more fun to give gifts to others than to receive gifts yourself. It is human nature to be happy when other people are content and happy.

Another proverb says that small gifts keep friendship alive.

That's true if you only think about marriage. In between, give your life partner a bouquet of flowers and there is unity and peace in the family.

Envy should always be avoided, because envy makes you ill and causes inner unrest and dissatisfaction.

Envy of what others have is hardly conducive to peace and leads to nervousness and at worst can even produce stomach ulcers at worst.

Sport makes you happy

Statistics show that people who are physically fit are also happier. Movement ensures physical and mental fitness and only an alert mind is able to feel happiness.

Laziness and sluggishness have never made anyone happy, rather the opposite is likely to be the case.

Whether it's hiking or biking, older people are happier and more content when they're moving rather than just lying around lazily.

Make sure you get enough sleep

People who sleep little rarely give the impression of being happy. The human body produces the sleep hormone melatonin when it is dark. This hormone in turn ensures a balanced sleep, good sleep is essential for a good mood. You will hardly meet a person who is in a good mood when he has not had enough sleep.

Sleep means relaxation for body and mind, a relaxed person is usually happy.

Don't forget to switch off

Nowadays it is vital to provide a balance to professional stress and everyday hectic. Such a compensation can look like turning off your smartphone at the weekend or not being available for the company.

Treating yourself to something every now and then can certainly help to feel happy.
